Since I had issues with size last time and these items are non-returnableI went up a size. This time, Modcloth's shipping was phenomenal -- I got my items yesterday Friday after ordering on Tuesday. Wanna know what I got?! I had a feeling it was going to be great when I eyed the box - the biggest Modcloth box I have ever received!
And then I opened it! And look what I found! Right away, I liked the patterns I saw! Since the box was so big, I thought that perhaps I got a nice coat and there are some gorgeous ones on the web site!
But no coat -- however, I recognized one item right away. The black print was a Bettie Page skirt -- and I adore Bettie Page the martini dress above is one of her designs! First, I had a quick peek of the shoes. Kinda Mad Men-ish -- not exactly my style but definitely a great quality shoe heavy.

So, of course, I HAD to try on the skirt first and went ahead and added the shoes too since they matched the skirt: Not the best of pictures but here is the skirt with the blue heels. You can't see in the picture but it has built in crinoline and makes this skirt so much fun to wear and the fabric is heavy as well with gold and silver threads throughout -- beautiful fabric. It also turned out that the shoes are quite comfy! I will either have to swap or sell them.
Next up -- this lovely, chiffon-y dress!

I was never really into this whole color-block thing so I would have never tried this dress on much less purchased it! I am just a little sad that I will have to wait until the summer to wear it it's super light: A fabulous reader found the link to the dress: It will be great in the humid weather of St Louis!
There was one dress that was a "dud. Here is a picture of me in it the top is about to fall down! I am not sure yet if I love it enough to spend the money to get it tailored.

The invoice lists the categories you ordered from and your size choices; the price listed is for the surprise category purchased, not the retail price of the item they sent to you. The length and colors were giving me fall vibes, so I paired it with a long sleeved shirt, even though it was about 85 degrees out.
The pleats threw me off at first along with the horizontal stripes, but high waisted styling prevented either detail from looking unflattering. Wearing this flowy skirt made me feel so girly, and I loved every minute! The white trim on this navy dress made me feel like a sailor ahoy!

Every detail, including the cutesy white bow, the soft cotton fabric, and the belled out skirt gave it a romantic feel; there is only one feature missing: Although the pockets were amiss, I can really appreciate the adjustable straps, which really play a big supporting role for me. I also prefer a dress to have a bit of stretch instead of a long zipper in the back or both! The large metal buckle adds just enough simple detail, and the one-inch heel makes them very comfortable to walk in.
Again, this pick for a summer Stylish Surprise shoe was not seasonally appropriate, so I went for a very casual fall look. Madeline Bluebell Boots are composed of manmade materials, so I think I will try to get my wear out of them in the fall more so than our typically wet PA winter.
Even though not every item was explicitly meant for summer wear, I am so thrilled with this ModCloth Stylish Surprise experience!
